20 Year Transferrable Warranty

(Effective 1-1-1996)

Hayfield Window and Door Company, Inc., "The Company", extends this Warranty on each window and door product of its manufacture in our Northern Classics and Vinyl Classics series to the original consumer purchaser or transferrable party(ies) whichever applies within the original TWENTY (20) year warranty period.

GENERAL WARRANTY: Northern Classics and Vinyl Classics, a division of Hayfield Window and Door Company, Inc., warrants that it's Northern and Vinyl Classics products shall be free from any defects in the material and the workmanship for a period of ONE (1) year from the date of purchase to the original consumer purchaser or transferrable party(ies).

If the windows covered by this warranty are defective, "The Company" will repair or replace the defective part(s). "The Company" will provide the repair or replacement part(s) to you free of charge; except as otherwise provided for herein. You must pay for the labor costs of removal, installation or reinstallation of the part or component, or the entire window, if necessary, in order to effect the repair.

VINYL FRAME AND SASH PARTS: "The Company" warrants that the Vinyl Classics Series rigid vinyl extrusions used in the products are first grade exterior quality materials. The PVC extrusions have been tested and proven using the high grades of UV treatment available on today's market. The company warrants that the vinyl extrusions used in these products will not pit, chip, corrode or blister under ordinary conditions on account of manufacturing defects in the extrusions and that the wood veneer on the interior surfaces will not delaminate from the windows and door for the LIFE of the product. All window and door units supplied with either pine or oak wood must be sealed immediately after delivery for the warranty to be valid. Painting or staining of vinyl parts will void any warranty with respect to such parts. The company is not responsible for unsatisfactory wood grains or stains applied by the consumer.

HARDWARE: The company warrants that window hardware shall be free from defects in material and workmanship for the life of the product. All door hardware shall be free from defect in material and workmanship for a period of ONE (1) year from the date of purchase to the original consumer purchaser of transferrable party(ies).

INSULATING GLASS: The company warrants that the INSULATING GLASS only, if any, in its Northern and Vinyl Classics products shall be free from failure of the hermetic seal for a period of TWENTY (20) YEARS from the date of purchase.

This warranty does not cover glass breakage or distortion or any other failures or operating difficulties due to accident, abuse, misuse, alteration, misapplication, faulty building construction or design, exposure to the elements, improper or insufficient handling, storage, installation, maintenance or service, and nonstandard installations, i.e., non-vertical, on the side or out-of-square position. Also excluded from this warranty are failures of operating difficulties resulting from the exposure to corrosive fumes, or condensates, subjection to stress from the movement of the structure, the use of films and coatings on the interior of the product, or use in swimming pools or other high humidity areas without adequate ventilation or humidity control.

Condensation of any windows and any related water damage, which may occur as the natural result of humidity within the property or changes in interior/exterior temperatures, does not indicate a defect and is not included in this warranty. Should there be such failure of the hermetic seal within the warranty period, "The Company" shall provide either a replacement piece of insulated glass or a sash glazed with insulated glass, at its discretion. The consumer and not "The Company" will be responsible for installation replacement of the glass and shipping costs incurred.

For the first TEN (10) years from the date of purchase, no charge will be made for providing replacement glass or a sash glazed with insulated glass. Thereafter, up to TWENTY (20) years the consumer will be charged for fifty percent (50%) of the then list price.

THIS WARRANTY WITH RESPECT TO INSULATING GLASS DOES NOT APPLY WHEN "THE COMPANY" FURNISHES WINDOW UNITS OR A COMPONENT THEREOF IN A SIZE WHICH IS GREATER IN WIDTH OR GREATER IN HEIGHT THAN THE LARGEST SIZE SHOWN FOR THAT WINDOW SPECIFICATION IN THE PRINTED CATALOG. IN THE CASE OF SUCH GREATER SIZE, THERE SHALL BE NO WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, WHETHER IMPLIED OR OTHERWISE, WITH RESPECT TO SUCH A WINDOW OR COMPONENT THEREOF.

SPECIFICATION LIMITATIONS: Any warranty will apply only if the product is installed and operated in accordance with "The Company's" instructions.

This Warranty does not cover any product that has been abused, misused, altered, used for a purpose other than that for which it was intended or in a manner inconsistent with any instructions regarding its use. This warranty does not cover glass breakage or distortion or any other failures or operating difficulties, in the glass or vinyl components or glazing due to accident, misapplication, faulty building construction or design, exposure to the elements, improper or insufficient handling, storage, installation, maintenance or service, and nonstandard installations, i.e., non-vertical, on the side or out-of-square position. Also excluded from this warranty are failures or operating difficulties resulting from the exposure to corrosive fumes, or condensates, subjection to stress from the movement of the structure, the use of films and coatings on the interior of the product, or use in swimming pools or other high humidity areas without adequate ventilation or humidity control.

Replacement components may vary slightly in color or gloss in comparison to original components. "The Company" shall not be liable to the homeowner/consumer as a result of such variance. "The Company" reserves the right to discontinue or modify any of its products, including the color of said products, without notice to the homeowner/consumer. In the event products covered by this warranty are no longer available, "The Company" shall have the right to substitute products which, in the sole and absolute discretion of "The Company", are of equal value and quality.

This Warranty will not be available in the event that: "The Company" part or parts manufactured by others are used in the installation of "The Company" product where such parts have not been approved for installation of that product; or half rounds, transoms, ellipticals, etc. manufactured by others are stacked or mulled on "The Company" products.

GENERAL PROVISIONS: THERE ARE NO OTHER WARRANTIES EXCEPT AS SET FORTH HEREIN. ANY WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE ARE LIMITED IN DURATION TO THE PERIOD OF COVERAGE OF THESE EXPRESS WRITTEN WARRANTIES. "THE COMPANY" SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR APPLICABLE TAXES OR ANY INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, DAMAGE OR LOSS TO PERSONS OR OTHER PROPERTY. Some states do not allow limitation on how long an implied warranty lasts, and some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so these limitations or exclusions may not apply to you. These warranties give you specific legal rights and you may also have other rights which vary from state to state. NO DISTRIBUTOR, SALESPERSON, DEALER, RETAILER OR OTHER REPRESENTATIVE OF "THE COMPANY" HAS THE AUTHORITY TO MAKE WARRANTIES OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE OR TO ALTER OR CHANGE THESE WARRANTIES EITHER ORALLY OR IN WRITING.

If you, the original homeowner, are selling your home and wish to transfer your remaining warranty to the second homeowner, please complete the attached transferrable certificate and submit with a check of $100.00 to the Warranty Department of Hayfield Window and Door Company, P.O. Box 25, Hayfield, MN 55940. If additional transferrable certificates are needed for future transfers of the original warranty, please write to the Warranty Department at the above address for approval and a new certificate will be sent. Only available for residential, not commercial or multi-housing projects.
